Slacker

Recently, my world has been turned upside down. It has really taken a toll on my workouts. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things but everything is so stressful right now.

I hope to be back to kicking butt at the gym soon.

Tighten up...

This has been one of those weeks. My diet has suffered. Hormones are going crazy. Still, I have to keep my goals in sight.

My body has been seeking the path of least resistance and instant gratification. I've been so busy that I've forgotten to be on guard.

Because of my lack of diligence, I have to work even harder.

I'd like to say that I have been nothing but disciplined and have been working hard. But, we all have our weak times so I'm sharing that too.

I know that, for myself, after I've slipped up for a time, when I have to get back on track, the best thing for me to do is to be ultra-strict on my diet to get those cravings knocked out. So, even though I really don't like agave nectar it has to be my sweetener of choice. I've gotta lay off so much fruit. To kill these sweets cravings, I'm gonna have to completely cut them out for a time. Not forever, but until I can re-adjust my taste buds.

I have a goal. I have to keep reminders of that in front of me at all times. There's no going back. No chance to go back in time to fix the things you shouldn't have done. You're grown-up. You know what you should and shouldn't be doing. But it's all up to you whether you do things right. No one else can build your body for you. No pill. No shake. Just you. And the fruits of your labor will be obvious to all. Whether you worked hard or hardly worked.

Anything worth having is worth sacrificing for. Remember, I'm sacrificing right along with you. I never said it would be easy. I said it would be worth it.

Now, go kick some ass.

There's No Magic Pill

There is no magic pill. If there were, I'd be first in line to buy it.

I've tried many a diet. I've joined LA Weight Loss, which worked well for a time. (Would've worked better if they had had me exercise) My entire life up to this point had been spent overweight.

The secret is no secret at all. You've heard it a million times.

"Eat right & exercise."

A mantra that is easy to spout but difficult to live. I guess the secret is finding what will motivate you to impliment proper eating and exercise into your daily life.

You have to want it bad enough. You have to obsess over it for a time until it becomes habit. You are here. You DO have the desire. You DO have the drive. You just have to dig down deep and find it. There IS a reason you want to be fit. Write down your reasons and never lose site of them. You CAN do this. You WILL do this.
"Failure will never overtake you if your desire to succeed is strong enough."

Just f*ckin' do it.

I see people at the gym who look like they are just spinning their wheels when it comes to getting in shape. I see trainers doing crazy new exercises with clients. Which is fine, but damn it, these people HAVE TO GET motivated! They have to commit! I don't care if you hate to sweat. You're gonna have to sweat if you want to get the damn job done!

You're going to have to get out of your comfort zone. Ya know what? I friggin' hate cardio but I do about an hour of it because I am committed to my goals. Every damn day.

Another thing I see a lot of is people doing countless hours on treadmills, elipticals, & spinning classes but over the months, I haven't seen a change. Maybe they don't want to change, and that's fine, but if you find yourself in that catagory and you DO want to change, I suggest you step back & take a look at what you are putting in your mouth. I believe the food you eat is more important than the exercise you do if you are wanting to lose weight. Don't get me wrong, you can't have one without the other. If you're serious about this, fun time is over as far as food is concerned.

You want to change? Just f*cking do it! Every damn day.

Happiness comes from the achieving of GOALS...

"I want to lose weight."

That is a very vague statement. First of all, ask yourself, "Why do I want to lose weight?" Do you want to not feel winded after climbing a flight of stairs? Or do you just want to look great naked? Either goal is a fine goal. But, you also have to ask yourself just how willing you are to make it to these goals. There will be sacrifice. No more ice cream at night. No more colorful kids' cereal. No more soda (I know this can be a biggie, but you will adapt).

First of all, be very specific. What exactly is your goal? Then, how do you plan to achieve this goal? What are some possible obstacles that you foresee as a problem? How do you plan to overcome these obstacles? Who are some people you can call on for help/accountability? How long will it take you to safely reach your goal?

Write all these things down and keep them available. Read this list often. It may sound hokey & cliche but a year ago I was a smoker and 60 pounds heavier than I am now.

You CAN do this. It's you vs. you. May the best you win.
