Happiness comes from the achieving of GOALS...

"I want to lose weight."

That is a very vague statement. First of all, ask yourself, "Why do I want to lose weight?" Do you want to not feel winded after climbing a flight of stairs? Or do you just want to look great naked? Either goal is a fine goal. But, you also have to ask yourself just how willing you are to make it to these goals. There will be sacrifice. No more ice cream at night. No more colorful kids' cereal. No more soda (I know this can be a biggie, but you will adapt).

First of all, be very specific. What exactly is your goal? Then, how do you plan to achieve this goal? What are some possible obstacles that you foresee as a problem? How do you plan to overcome these obstacles? Who are some people you can call on for help/accountability? How long will it take you to safely reach your goal?

Write all these things down and keep them available. Read this list often. It may sound hokey & cliche but a year ago I was a smoker and 60 pounds heavier than I am now.

You CAN do this. It's you vs. you. May the best you win.
